Activities

The site identified for the development of the Dunoon Project extends from a proposed base station location just south of Dunoon town centre and then up Kilbride Hill which sits above the town, overlooking the spectacular scenery of the Clyde estuary, and the hills and mountains of Argyll and beyond.

Within easy striking distance of Dunoon, the activities provided by the Project, and in the wider Cowal area, will literally offer something for everyone. A range of partner businesses will operate on the site providing world-class outdoor and adventure activities, alongside accommodation, catering and more gentle pursuits.

For adrenalin-seeking outdoor enthusiasts, the mountain biking tracks will offer stunning riding for all keen cyclists – with routes designed for everyone from beginners to experienced pros.

The gondola will offer people of all ages and abilities the chance to take a cable car ride from the base station to a visitor centre at the top of Kilbride Hill for unparalleled views and access to hillwalking, hiking and biking.

For sheer speed and thrills, the zipline will run in stages down Kilbride Hill, taking in amazing scenery and views at the same time as getting the heart pumping!

Other activities are being considered for the site including an alpine toboggan run, nature and birdwatching hides, public art pieces and viewpoints. We expect that the Dunoon Project partners will develop on-site food outlets, showers and changing areas, and eco-friendly visitor accommodation.

The site’s close proximity to the town and its waterfront means that there’s plenty to do for those who are a little less gung-ho.
